WakeMed Offers Options for Those Affected by UnitedHealthcare Contract Termination As a result of the March 1 termination of their contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC), WakeMed is offering assistance to patients and physicians most affected by the situation. For those who need pre-authorization for receiving care at WakeMed, there is now a dedicated CareLine to help explain how WakeMed will work with patients and physicians in order to keep patient co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles at in-network levels whenever possible. The CareLine can be accessed by calling 919-350-CARE (2273), and staff members are available Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. WakeMed also has provided the attached brochure, which outlines the options available to UHC members. As a reminder, UHC will continue to cover at in-network levels all emergency services, specific maternity services, and services for certain chronic conditions for which UHC patients are already receiving care at WakeMed. Negotiations are continuing between UHC and WakeMed, and we will notify you in the event of any change in negotiation status. In the meantime, should you need further assistance in directing your employees in accessing proper care, please contact our office at 919-403-1986.
