CIGNA Announces Improved Health Risk Assessment Beginning March 31, 2008, CIGNA members will have access to a new, more powerful Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and new online coaching programs designed to drive higher levels of engagement in preventive and health improvement practices. The new tools will be available through CIGNA’s new Health and Wellness Center portal at www.myCIGNA.com. The new HRA tool is the product of CIGNA’s recent partnership with the University of Michigan Health Management Resource Center, as previously announced in the Benefits Bulletin released October 2, 2007, and it will replace the WebMD Health Quotient HRA CIGNA has been using previously. The tool is a customized version of the nationally-recognized University of Michigan HRA, and it will analyze all responses through the university’s proprietary Trend Management System (TMS). CIGNA is the only health services company in the U.S. with access to TMS. With the addition of TMS to CIGNA’s suite of predictive tools, CIGNA will be able to utilize HRA data to forecast (with 83% accuracy) which members will be using healthcare services the most over the next 2-3 years. TMS also defines optimal personalized health outreach strategies for each member, enabling CIGNA to direct interventions and programs earlier and more precisely where and when they will have the greatest impact on improving health and productivity and lowering costs. After completing the HRA, members will immediately receive a personalized health profile report that includes an overall wellness score, their top three risks, and recommended actions to improve their health. In addition, members will receive an invitation to online coaching for fitness, nutrition, sleep, and/or stress, based on risks identified in their HRA. With the new HRA, CIGNA will also be able to provide you with more in-depth reporting to help enable more strategic decision making.
