BCBSNC to Offer Health Risk Assessments
As of July 1, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina will be offering confidential health risk assessments to employers and individuals to help them understand and act upon their own health risks. Upon enrolling in BCBSNC’s Your Health Profile program, members can take part in a confidential survey, after which they will receive personalized assessments of their health status, as well as assistance with developing an action plan for maintaining and improving their health.
As part of the health risk assessment, individuals whose reports indicate risks for certain health conditions (along with a willingness to improve these conditions) will be enrolled in BCBSNC’s Member Health Partnerships, which offers customized support and education to members with one or more health conditions (i.e., diabetes, asthma, coronary disease). Further, health risk assessment participants will be able to access BCBSNC’s Online Healthy Living program for assistance with lifestyle issues such as weight loss or stress reduction.
Employers with 50 or more employees completing the health risk assessment survey will receive an aggregate health management report. This report enables the employer to design and promote programs that target specific needs of their workers, such as managing diabetes or increasing physical activity.
All employer groups with coverage from BCBSNC, including self-funded employers who pay a fee to BCBSNC to administer their health plan, are eligible to use this new health risk assessment program under Your Health Profile at no additional charge. Customers of BCBSNC’s Blue Advantage® individual coverage are also eligible to participate in the health risk assessment and receive a confidential health report.
