CIGNA Student Verification Deadline is October 15 Employers are encouraged to remind their workers who have full-time students as dependents on the CIGNA medical plan that verification of full-time student status must be received by CIGNA by October 15, 2007. Proper verification will ensure that these dependents are not automatically terminated from the plan on that date. If an employee has a dependent that is above the age of 19 and is no longer a full-time student, the employee is required to notify CIGNA to drop this person from coverage. If this dependent is out of school and cannot be covered under an employer’s insurance plan, COBRA coverage can be purchased. The employee must notify human resources of this qualifying event. To obtain a report of dependents who have not responded, employers can use CIGNA Access and go to the “Student Letter Verification” section.
