BCBSNC Members Can Verify Dependent Social Security Numbers Online In order to comply with recent federal mandates on reporting of plan participant information, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC must report dependent Social Security numbers (SSNs) of all plan participants as detailed in the Compliance Alert dated November 25, 2008. As a result, BCBSNC group customers must report all dependent SSNs to BCBSNC by January 1, 2010. To ease the reporting process, BCBSNC members who use EBenefitsnow.com can verify dependent information to find which SSNs must be reported. Clients who use EBenefitsnow.com should use the following instructions to obtain a list of covered dependents and to determine which dependents’ SSNs are not on file with BCBSNC:
Once the needed SSNs are identified, groups may submit this information to BCBSNC in the same manner they submit other eligibility information. Should you have any questions regarding this new requirement, please contact our office at 919-403-1986.
