

		BCBSNC Using eBenefitsNow Pop-up Message to Remind about Social Security Number Collection In an effort to comply with Medicare’s new Social Security number (SSN) collection requirements, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC is utilizing a special “pop-up” message to remind members who use eBenefitsNow of the new requirement. The message, which will appear whenever the member logs into eBenefitsNow, states that beginning July 6, 2009, SSNs will be required for all spouses and domestic partners (regardless of age) in addition to the member subscriber. This requirement includes transactions initiated by group administrators, as well as employees that have access to the self-serve features. Clients who use EBenefitsnow.com can obtain a list of covered dependents and determine which dependents’ SSNs are not on file with BCBSNC by following the directions specified in the Benefits Bulletin dated March 4, 2009.
