Guardian Going Green with Claims Information

Effective August 31, 2009, Guardian will no longer be mailing paper Explanation of Benefits statements (EOBs) where no balance is due, and instead encourage members to view their claims information online at www.GuardianAnytime.com. Guardian will continue to mail EOBs for claims where the member may owe a payment to the provider, and some may be grouped together and mailed on a monthly basis. However, all EOBs will be accessible online at Guardian’s secure website.

In addition, Guardian is working on an enhancement to the Guardian Anytime website that will allow members to view and track claim status, as well as receive email notifications of when a claim is processed. Members registered to the site will be notified of this new feature when it becomes available.

These moves are intended to further enhance Guardian’s “green” initiative to reduce paper waste and allow for faster receipt of benefit information. Guardian previously made online billing services standard practice for all member employers (see Benefits Bulletin dated March 31, 2009).
