Several Maxim Employer Flu Shot Clinics Must Be Rescheduled Maxim Healthcare, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC vendor for employer flu shot clinics, did not receive a sufficient shipment of the flu vaccine this week and, as a result, will need to reschedule all employer flu shot clinics currently scheduled to occur between October 26 and November 3, 2009, to ensure that the appropriate amount of vaccines are available. Maxim is currently contacting over 300 BCBSNC employer groups that may be affected by this in order to begin the rescheduling process and find an alternative date that meets each employer’s needs. The shortage is due to extremely high demand, and BCBSNC has no alternative solution for the affected groups other than rescheduling their clinics for a later date. Maxim will begin re-scheduling clinics for new dates beginning on November 10, 2009, with the intent of scheduling them on the same day of the week and time as currently planned but on a date two weeks in the future. The only exception will be clinics scheduled on October 26, for which Maxim is still working to find an appropriate date to reschedule. Employers should note that receiving a seasonal flu shot in mid-late November is completely appropriate timing and will protect your employees from seasonal flu when it is most common, which is January through March. If your company is impacted and you have not yet received a call from Maxim, you can call them toll-free at 1-866-360-0499. Should you have any additional questions about rescheduling your Maxim flu clinics, please contact our office at 919-403-1986.
