healthcare reform moneyA popular provision with employers that have a pre-65 retiree population is the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program, or ERRP.  This is a program that was created with healthcare reform to incent employers to keep their early retiree medical programs.  For employers that apply to the program and that meet qualifications, they can get a reimbursement for some of their larger medical claims that fall under the provision.

According to the Dept of Health and Human Services, approximately 5,000 employers have applied and qualify for the program.  Health and Human services are estimating that the full 5 billion dollars allocated for this program will be utilized before the end of 2012.
