December marks the time of year when people are inspired to reflect on the last 365 days that seemed to fly by. Looking back on 2011, HCW has had a number of reasons to celebrate. 43 of those reasons happen to be our awesome staff. We’ve begun to notice our break room getting more and more crowded at our monthly staff meetings, but we’re squeezing in and making room for the new family members. And these lucky individuals get to know quickly what it means to work at HCW…
We have a few traditions here that we all look forward to each year. We kick these off early on with March Madness, followed by Cinco de Mayo. Our Cinco de Mayo celebration this year consisted of a few flying tortillas, so we’re not entirely certain we’ll be allowed back to that particular establishment – but, our fingers are crossed!
Every summer, we gear up for our annual Hyco Lake Party. This year we were treated to luxury on the lake as we had a day themed, “Lifestyles of the not so rich and not so famous.” We might not be celebrity status, but we sure felt like it with a day of employee appreciation fun!
Another tradition at HCW (on a monthly level) is formally recognizing our most successful sales representatives. Each month our sales leader has in his or her possession the coveted Golden Funnel. Hand-made by our Marketing & Communications Director, this glimmering, gold spray painted wooden trophy is awarded to the month’s highest earning sales rep and sits on the winner’s desk – in all of its glory – until it is snatched up by the next hungry sales rep.
Our Wellness Fair in November made for a great “feel good” treat for HCW employees. Several of us were treated to chair massages, while others were convinced we needed chiropractic care! And to boot, several folks won vendor goodies, gift cards, and UNC football and Duke basketball tickets. A good time was had by all.
In November, we always give thanks and this year we did so by sharing food that we are fortunate enough to afford with The Servant Center of Greensboro. This initiative was in support of HRMAG’s 2011 Annual Food Drive and HCW contributed more than $1,000 in cash and pounds of food for hungry families in the Triad.
We gathered again as a team in December, but this time, to share some Christmas spirit with our clients. Our annual card signing party is always a time to have fun and spread cheer. This is usually a kick off to our holiday party and this year, we were graced with models presenting us with uber-stylish (and uber-tacky!) holiday sweaters, and we voted on our faves.
To cap off our year in celebration, HCW employees gathered at Sparians in Raleigh for a night of upscale bowling. Spares, strikes and stares (at those on the dance floor) made this event, as usual, a memorable one for all.
While it’s been a busy and eventful year here at HCW, we always make it an exciting time too, and we are looking forward to another year of fun in 2012.
From HCW to you and yours, we hope you have a great holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Great blog Stephanie! I have
Great blog Stephanie! I have kept a close eye on this outstanding company through a friend who is currently employed with HC&W. After reading this post it is hard not to be envious of employees who enjoy the benefits of working for such a great company. That being said, is there any idea on a timeline of the hiring process for the Benefits Analyst I, that is posted under the career section? Thanks again for the enjoyable read! Merry Christmas!
Thanks Brandon! I'd encourage
Thanks Brandon! I'd encourage you to reach out to our VP of Operations, Carol Wagoner regarding the open positions at HCW. It is definitely a great place to work!
