Town of Carborro

Please join us in welcoming the Town of Carrboro to the growing Hill, Chesson & Woody family.  One of North Carolina’s fastest growing municipalities, the Town of Carrboro was incorporated in 1911 when it was known as “Venable,” but later changed its name in honor of Julian Shakespeare Carr, owner of the local textile mill.  While it’s growth rate remained slow and steady for the 50 years after its incorporation, Carrboro has seen its population skyrocket since 1960 from a mere 2,000 people to over 17,000 residents.

With the Town of Carrboro now aboard, the staff at Hill, Chesson & Woody is looking forward to the challenging process of meeting the benefit needs of such a unique and rapidly growing entity.  The Town has never worked with a consultant before in providing health care for its employees, so the expectations and projected workload are significant.

An early indication of success, however, was the ability of the town and Hill, Chesson & Woody to work collaboratively in reducing the town’s medical renewal from a 27% increase to a 9.7% increase without reducing benefits.  We look forward to continuing this success as we assist the Town of Carrboro with their employee benefits program in the days ahead.
