Business North Carolina magazine recognizes benefits firm for fifth consecutive year
DURHAM, N.C., May 15, 2017 — Hill, Chesson & Woody (HCW), part of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s employee benefits consulting and brokerage operation, was recently named one of the 2017 Best Employers in North Carolina. This program was created by Business North Carolina, the North Carolina Society for Human Resource Management and the Best Companies Group.
“It is an honor to be named one of the best employers in North Carolina for the fifth year in a row!” said Todd Yates, Area President of Gallagher’s benefits operation in Durham. “Our goal is to cultivate an environment where employees can grow both professionally and personally. We strive to provide abundant support, guidance, and encouragement to our employees and this recognition from Business North Carolina is proof of that.”
This statewide survey and awards program identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in North Carolina for their role in benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. HCW was named the #2 Best Employer in North Carolina among 18 companies in the small to medium size category, up from #5 last year. The company offers various programs and benefits, including summer hours, chair massages and daily fresh fruit and vegetables provided by the firm’s wellness committee. Events held away from the office, such as an afternoon at the movies and an annual lake party, support the company’s values of maintaining a fun and flexible workplace.
Companies from across the state completed the two-part survey process. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
