Mission Health Returns to BCBSNC Network

Mission Health returned to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) Network effective December 15, 2017. BCBSNC and Mission Health re-entered into an agreement for Mission Health provider participation in Blue Cross networks. This agreement took effect on December 15, 2017.

Blue Distinction Centers

BCBSNC will be updating its Blue Distinction Center list with changes that take effect January 1, 2018. Blue Distinction is a designation awarded by BCBSNC and other Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality healthcare.

The designation is based on rigorous, evidence-based selection criteria established in collaboration with expert physicians and medical organizations. The goals are to raise the quality of care delivered nationwide and to help consumers find specialty care at facilities proven to have delivered better overall outcomes.

The following facilities will receive their Blue Distinction Center designation for Maternity Care effective January 1, 2018.
•    Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center
•    Wayne Memorial Hospital

The following facilities will be losing their Blue Distinction Center designation for Maternity Care effective January 1, 2018.
•    Carolinas Medical Center
•    CHS Stanly
•    Davis Regional Medical Center
•    First Health Moore Regional
•    Frye Regional Medical Center
•    Granville Medical Center
•    Iredell Memorial Hospital
•    Margret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital
•    New Hanover Regional Medical Center
•    Novant Health Huntersville Medical Canter
•    Randolph Hospital
•    Rex Hospital
•    Sentara Albemarle Medical Center
•    Wilkes Regional Medical Center
•    Women’s Hospital of Greensboro

The following facilities will receive their Blue Distinction Center designation for Bariatric Surgery effective January 1, 2018.
•    Mission Hospital (has been re-designated effected 12/15/2017)
•    CMC-Northeast Medical Center
•    Cape Fear Valley Medical Center
•    Carolinas Medical Center – Mercy

•    First Health Moore Regional

Blue Value & Blue Select Networks

Minor changes have taken place to the Blue Value and Blue Select networks that are effective January 1, 2018. If members are covered by either of these networks, they will need to use the online Provider Search to confirm network status of their physician or facility.
