Capital Associated Industries, Inc. (CAI) and Hill, Chesson & Woody Employee Benefit Services (HCW) recently announced a formal partnership aimed at assisting North Carolina employers as they navigate through important workplace changes. This partnership was developed between the state’s largest employers’ association and the region’s premier employee benefits consultancy to bring unique services and concepts to a changing marketplace, by offering needed guidance to businesses in the Triangle and Triad regions.
More than ever, employers need assistance to steer through complex legislation while working to return to profitability. The enhanced relationship between CAI and HCW assures client businesses of both organizations direct access to valuable expertise in all areas of human resources and employee benefits as they look for guidance to stay on track.
“Our member companies are looking for guidance on key decisions they must make in the coming months and years to comply with federal laws and to maximize their benefits dollars for employees,” said Bruce Clarke, CEO of CAI. “This is not something that most employers can do on their own, so we are excited to partner with an expert consultancy to bring this education to the market.”
CAI, which offers a vast array of human resources, training, survey data and compliance services, and HCW have joined forces in many areas over the past eight years, including the development of the NC Healthcare Benefits & Cost Survey – the first benefits benchmarking survey of its kind in North Carolina. Now, the two organizations have an opportunity to better assist area businesses through a more permanent arrangement of services.
“Hill Chesson & Woody already serves several of our members with high quality advice and benefits strategies, invests in the professional staff to do the job well, and shares freely with all of our members on their questions and training needs. Our decade of experience with HCW and their leadership in the business community made this an easy decision,” noted Clarke.
CAI and HCW will work together to produce a robust series of educational opportunities to explain employer options and detail compliance obligations. These events will be supported by enhanced web-based content and self-service tools designed to help businesses adjust their benefit strategies in light of new federal requirements. CAI and HCW will also collaborate on distributing relevant news and information to their clients and members.
The partnership will also create an integrated consultancy initiative where HCW experts will be available for issue-based consultations to CAI members, and CAI’s human resources experts will be available to HCW clients for initial HR consultations.
According to HCW Managing Partner Todd Yates, the partnership provides area employers an opportunity to access the vast resources and expertise of both a group benefits consultant and a human resources consultant that are both leaders in their respective fields.
“The success of this partnership will be driven by the underlying values of both HCW and CAI to put the needs of client employers first,” said Yates. “We each offer people of specialized expertise, state-of-the-art tools, and a wealth of experience in our respective areas that will help create clarity in today’s complex business environment. We realize that nothing less will do as employers are forced to look outside their organizations for guidance.”
In concert with the new agreement, HCW has expanded its influence into the Triad market by opening an office next to CAI’s current location in Greensboro. The benefits consulting firm currently serves over 300 North Carolina employers out of its Chapel Hill and Greensboro offices.
