CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (April 10, 2012) – UnitedHealthcare’s (UHC) Jon Dingledine joined Hill, Chesson & Woody (HCW) as Vice President of Consulting. Dingledine is a 23-year veteran of the health insurance industry, the past 10 of which were at UHC. He most recently served as UHC’s Director of Sales and Account Management. In that role, he was responsible for key accounts with 100 to 3,000 employees in North and South Carolina and spent much of his time in the Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro and Wilmington markets.
“We were looking for someone with good domain knowledge of the medical insurance industry, great business skills and who was a good leader of people,” said HCW Managing Partner Todd Yates, who served as HCW lead consultant for the past 10 years. “We believe that Jon brings all of that and more to the HCW team.”
“Jon is highly respected among industry professionals, which positions him well to help manage our carrier and service provider relationships,” said Yates. “Those relationships are a crucial element for us to be as effective as possible for our clients. Jon coming to HCW from a senior position within a major medical carrier gives us fresh insight as he works with the HCW team to keep our consulting platform on the cutting edge.”
The addition of Dingledine to the HCW team not only enhances the HCW consulting platform, but it allows Yates to focus on pursuing opportunities to enhance HCW’s overall client experience. Yates says the marketplace needs are changing rapidly and the firm is poised to keep building and delivering new services to meet growing expectations.
“Jon could have joined any team in the market, but he chose HCW for a reason,” Yates said. “We believe those reasons, combined with Jon’s capabilities, will position us to continue leading the market.”
Dingledine added, “Working with HCW, a progressive team of professionals who care about their clients and are always growing their services to meet market needs, provided a great opportunity for me. HCW builds a foundation of trust and truly partners with its clients and carriers to secure the best long-term benefits solution. They really value relationships and work hard, always from a position of integrity.”
HCW is a health and welfare benefits brokerage and consulting firm that designs, manages and implements employee benefit programs that support the overall strategic direction of its clients’ organizations. Dingledine’s hiring is the company’s third of 2012 and brings the company’s employee count to 47 — a number that Yates expects to be at 52 before the end of the year due to increasing demand for the firm’s services.
